The high cost of Lithium-ion battery systems is one the biggest challenges hindering wide adoption electric vessels. For some marine applications, based on current monotype topologies are significantly oversized due to variable operational profiles and long lifespan requirements. This paper deals with hybrid energy storage system (HESS) for an harbor tug optimize size system. impact hybridization was investigated three key performance indicators inclusive cost, efficiency, weight. design life considered be 10 years, NMC LTO cell technologies used as high-energy (HE) high-power (HP) cells. HESS a parallel full-active architecture rule-based management strategy. results this research indicate that can reduce by around 28% 14% in comparison cells, respectively. Although no noticeable difference efficiency observed between HESS, reduces total weight cells more than 30% compared topology. study implies could promising solution large packs
